The newly formed Walkinshaw Andretti United has announced that Mobil 1™ and Boost Mobile will combine in 2018 as co-naming rights partners, creating Mobil 1 Boost Mobile Racing.

2018 marks the 25th anniversary of the partnership between the team and Mobil 1, one of the longest standing in Supercars, while Boost Mobile enters its second year with the team.

The Mobil 1 relationship stems back to 1994, when they joined the then Holden Racing Team and drivers Peter Brock and Tomas Mezera; the same year and car which car 02 paid tribute to in the back end of last year’s Supercar season.

Since then, Mobil 1, the world’s leading synthetic motor oil, and the team have shared many successes together, including nine Bathurst wins, eight driver championships and seven team championships.

As part of the celebration of the anniversary, the team will adopt the No. 25 on James Courtney’s car, moving from his regular No. 22, which is synonymous with the Clayton based squad.

Boost Mobile began their relationship with the team at the Clipsal 500 in 2017, before taking a major branding position on James Courtney’s Car 22 from Phillip Island onwards.

The Australian owned company was founded in 2000 by Peter Adderton and has grown to become the world’s largest youth mobile brand. They live and breathe the youth cultural intersections between action sports, motorsports, art and music, offering prepaid services on the 4G Telstra mobile network.

Today’s announcement continues their extensive support of motorsport over the years, which includes Indy Car, NASCAR and Motocross in the US.

Further building on the recent Walkinshaw Andretti United logo release, the team also launched the Mobil 1 Boost Mobile Racing brandmark, the all-new website, as well as the 2018 merchandise range which is on sale now at www.mobil1boostmobileracing.com.au.

The two Mobil 1 Boost Mobile Racing Holden ZB Commodores will hit the track at the upcoming Supercars test day at Sydney Motorsport Park on February 16.

Ryan Walkinshaw - Mobil 1™ Boost Mobile Racing Co-Owner

“To announce Mobil 1™ and Boost Mobile as co-naming rights partners today is fantastic for the team.”

“Having Mobil as an integral partner to our team for a quarter of a century is a testament to the strength and integrity of our relationship. It’s been an amazing journey with Mobil so far. We have enjoyed a great deal of success together, so we are all absolutely delighted that our partnership is continuing in 2018, and they are remaining a co-naming rights partner.

“In a world that has evolved significantly in this time, I am proud that there is a likeminded determination to constantly evolve and reinvent our intrinsic value to each other. That to me is a real partnership, and we can’t thank the team at Mobil enough.

“It’s great that they are joining Boost Mobile, a company that we formed an incredibly strong relationship with at the beginning of last year, to create Mobil 1 Boost Mobile Racing.

“Boost Mobile are a fantastic company, who provide a great product and service, but also really connect to the youth market. Having such a dynamic partner onboard shows the strength and direction the team is heading.

“We welcome back SharkBite Plumbing Solutions, VISA Global Logistics, and SP Tools who will continue their integral role with the team, and welcome Kawana, who have joined as a partner for the season ahead.”

“Adelaide is rapidly approaching, and we’ll be ready.”

Michael Andretti - Mobil 1™ Boost Mobile Racing Co-Owner

“The Walkinshaw Andretti United program for 2018 keeps getting stronger and stronger, and we’re proud to announce a continued partnership with Mobil 1 and Boost Mobile that will see the team take on the Mobil 1 Boost Mobile name.

“The No. 25 has been part of the Andretti Autosport stable in IndyCar, so it’s also very neat to see James take on the No. 25 in honour of the 25-year relationship between Mobil 1 and the team. Our team has been fortunate enough to work with Boost Mobile (US) on the IndyCar side, and we are excited to continue that relationship with the brand, this time in Australia.

“The website is live, fans can get merchandise, the car build is progressing, and Adelaide is just around the corner. I feel like Walkinshaw Andretti United has arrived and I can’t wait to get the season going.”

Zak Brown - Mobil 1™ Boost Mobile Racing Co-Owner

“It’s really great that Boost Mobile and Mobil 1 have combined with us creating Mobil 1 Boost Mobile Racing. Mobil 1 have been part of the team for 25 years now so to continue our relationship with them is fantastic. Both companies are stepping up their support of the team and their presence in Supercars, by taking a prominent brand position on both our cars from this season onwards. I’m thrilled we are associated with two great businesses as we move the team forward.”

Colin Smith - Mobil™ Motorsport Manager Australia

“Mobil, in conjunction with our authorized lubricant distributors across ANZ is delighted to continue as technology partner with the Walkinshaw Andretti United Racing team in 2018, a successful relationship that extends back to the days of the great Peter Brock, and the team has proven a major force in Supercars ever since. The relationship also compliments Mobil’s existing portfolio across global motorsports and lifestyle sports.”
