It was a day that started positively but finished in disappointing fashion on both sides of the garage.

Qualifying saw an improvement in the balance of the cars. After the three-stage session, Chaz would start 6th, and Bryce 12th.

The opening stint of the race was all going to plan. Chaz was comfortable in fifth, and Bryce in 12th, both with good speed.

When Chaz stopped for two-tyres, that race seemed to be going to plan, sitting in fifth on corrected order.

However, a few laps later, Bryce reported a battery warning on the dash, and before long, the car rolled to a stop at turn 2. That put him over and out for the day.

What that safety car did was bunch up the field, giving the advantage to all those who changed four tyres – meaning Chaz was on the back foot for the remainder of the race.

A day of what could have been, but two more races tomorrow means two more chances.
