Chaz Mostert has collected his sixth podium of the season, finishing third in Race 21 at The Bend, with Nick Percat home in 13th.

Both cars started inside the top 10 for the 24-lap race, in what was a relatively clean start for the field.

There were two strategy options, long or short, and we split them.

Nick stopped on the earlier side of things for two tyres, while Chaz went late in the race, the final handful of cars.

When the dust settled, Nick was in a freight train of cars all of similar speed, which made passing hard, while Chaz popped out behind Cam Waters in effective-fourth.

Chaz was able to clear Cam with a good move, and set his sights on Will Davison in second, but fell just short.

Tomorrow, we return for two back-to-back qualifying sessions, and two further 24-lap races.

Chaz Mostert

“Awesome to be on the podium again, it’s a great reward for everyone here.

“We know how important clear air is at the moment, so we are constantly chasing it, but still, great to get a good result here to start this weekend.

“Weather looks a little interesting for tomorrow, but we will keep trying to improve and see where we land in the morning.”

Nick Percat

“Up and down day on our side of the garage. Was nice to unlock some qualifying speed and be in the 10, so that was definitely a positive.

“Unfortunately come this afternoon we just lacked speed in the race, so it was a tricky 24 laps out there.

“We will put our heads together tonight, continue to build on the qualifying car and tune up the race car as well.”
