It’s been a big momentum forward for the Walkinshaw Andretti United team with Chaz Mostert claiming two trophies and a pole position with a coming of age for Ryan Wood which puts the Team 2nd in the teams championship.

The cars rolled out quick in the final practice session of the weekend with Chaz Mostert topping the session and Ryan Wood close behind in P5.

Qualifying was another tight one with Chaz securing his second front row start and Ryan crossed the line P4 but was handed a 3-grid penalty for impeding so would start P7.

As the sun was shining the lights went out for Race 10, a solid start off the line for both drivers, Chaz was on Waters’ back bumper and lunged deep on the final corner to take the lead.

Chaz kept his head down and had his eyes forward for the first stint, settling into the rhythm, setting fastest lap after fastest lap.

Ryan went for the undercut strategy coming in early for two tyres putting him in clean air, but with the chasing cars taking four tyres meant it would be a tough ride home.

Chaz was the first of the leaders to pit taking four tyres but got handed a 5 second pit lane infringement for an unsafe release which meant he would have to go pedal to the floor to the remainder of the race.

Unfortunately, struggling with tyres towards the end of the stint Chaz crossed the finish line first but had Cam Waters three seconds which put him down to P2.

Another impressive drive from Ryan crossing the line 8th having some great clean battles along the way, really showing his maturity.

Overall, a solid weekend for the team, on to Darwin next for the Indigenous Round, keep your eyes peeled for the Teams Indigenous livery launches.

“What a ripper weekend, it was awesome to get Ford’s first win of the year on Saturday as well as the teams first win in a Ford, unfortunately we couldn’t back that up with another win today.

“I’m a bit embarrassed to be disappointed with second, I made a small mistake in pit lane which cost us, but the car was super quick, we really deserved that win today, I just made the wrong judgement call and I’ll own that.

“Woody this weekend did a fantastic job, the young fella is really pushing me to the limit and I’m learning a lot from him as well, he’s also a massive hoot to have around the team.”

“Awesome weekend for the Mobil 1 Truck Assist No. 2 team, pretty guttered to miss out on a podium yesterday but today we qualified well but an error on my end put me back to P7, really sorry to Frosty.

“We ran with a pretty bold strategy today taking two tyres and running on them for 35 laps, it was a great learning experience to understand tyre wear.

“Stoked to get two solid results this weekend for the team, the crew are working overtime to give us these packages, I’m really grateful for them and the huge step forward we have made as a team.”
