Chaz Mostert has capped off the first weekend of the year with a double podium thanks to a third-place finish in Race 2 at the Mt Panorama 500. Bryce Fullwood battled hard, crossing the line in 13th.
For Chaz, who started the day in fifth, he pushed hard early to clear the two DJR cars either side of the first stop. He got by Will Davison at turn 1, before pressuring Anton De Pasquale into a mistake at the chase.
From there, he worked hard to chase down the front two, but couldn’t quite get there, capping off a fantastic weekend for the Mobil 1 Appliances Online No. 25, leaving the first round second in the Drivers Championship.
For Bryce, the balance of yesterday’s race car wasn’t quite there for him throughout the 40-laps. Overall though, it was a really positive weekend for the Mobil 1 Middy’s Racing No. 2, putting him seventh in the championship.
Today also marks the Team’s sixth consecutive Bathurst podium, spanning from the 2017 Bathurst 1000 to today.
We leave the weekend second in the Teams Championship, ready to continue to build on our positive start next round at Sandown.
Chaz Mostert
“Super stoked to get another podium today in the Mobil 1 Appliances Online rocket, just a really nice way to start the year.
“We’ve still got some work to do, but it’s nice to have the tools in the toolbox to work with, so I’m really excited to get down to Sandown in a few weeks, I really like it there.
“Really nice to see the hard work of the Team turning into results, so can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.”
Bryce Fullwood
“Compared to yesterday, a little bit of a tougher one today, but still, a lot learned, and positives to take.
“We have good and bad days, but to leave the weekend seventh in the championship is a really strong start for us.
“We’ve got a lot of information to look through now before Sandown on the stuff we have been working at over summer, so I’m really looking forward to that one now.”
