We’re off to the Coast to take on the streets of Surfers Paradise for the penultimate round of the 2024 Supercars Championship season!

It’s been a tight turnaround from Bathurst with the crew hard at work turning the cars around for another big weekend in Queensland!

Format

There are three days of on track action, with cars taking to the track on Friday for two 40-minute practice sessions.

Both Saturday and Sunday follow the same format with a 20-minute qualifying session to set the grid for P11 to P24, followed by a Top-10 Shootout ahead of the 250km 85-lap Race 21 and 22.

The Track

The streets of the Gold Coast are a 2.96km concrete canyon.

It’s a full commitment track, there is no runoff, no sand, no grass which means if you make a mistake you’ll be eating concrete for dinner.

You have to be aggressive into the chicane along the back straight, and the last corner provides a great opportunity to fire it down the inside; keep an eye out for a few moves to be made there over the weekend.

Tyres

We will be running the Dunlop Soft tyre all weekend.

Pitstops

There are two compulsory fuel stops throughout each 250km race. How much fuel you take, and when, will be the big question.

Weather

It’s going to be a warm one with temperatures creeping up to 30 degrees across the weekend. There is up to 20mm of rain forecasted for Sunday so keep your eye out!

How to Watch

Fox Sports and Kayo will cover every session live, while Channel 7 have you sorted Saturday and Sunday.

Ryan Wood

“It’s my first time racing around the streets of Surfers Paradise, it’s a bit of a concrete jungle, I’m looking forward to the challenge!

“We’ve got two 40-minute practice sessions to start the weekend off, these will be really important for me to find my feet around this track.

“I really enjoy these longer races, it brings strategy into play and we know this team are very strong when it comes to strategy, I’m looking forward to seeing what the engineers have whipped up for us!”

Chaz Mostert

“I love this track, it rewards risk, it’s close to home and I get to walk along the beach to get to it, what more could you ask for!

“The fans always turn up to this event, the atmosphere is one of the best on the calendar.

“It’s been a massive turnaround for the boys and girls at the workshop, they have been hard at work since Bathurst making sure these cars are ready to tackle the streets of Surfers, I couldn’t ask for a better team behind me!”
