It was a Saturday filled with mixed emotions at Sydney Motorsport Park, but the biggest thing to come out of it was a top 5 finish for Scott Pye.

Sydney Motorsport Park, also known as Eastern Creek, plays host to round 9 of the 2017 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship this weekend, so we’ve packed up the truck and headed up the Hume Highway.

It was a productive test day for Mobil 1 HSV Racing at Winton yesterday, with the team working through a designated program of evaluation.

Scott Pye fought back late to grab 16th in today’s 200km race at Queensland Raceway, but a front left tyre failure ruined James Courtney’s afternoon.

Despite different strategies, Scott Pye and James Courtney finished nose to tail after 120km in Ipswich, with both cars moving forward in the race to finish 13th and 14th.

We’re headed back to the paperclip for round 8 of the 2017 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship, the Ipswich SuperSprint.

We still aren’t content with where we are at, but progress has been made this weekend.

It was a tale of two very different stories in Townsville for race 13 of the championship.

We’ve gone right up the east coast of Australia to make it, but we are excited for what the weekend holds.
