Saturday night was a race that had it all. Safety car, rain at the end, a tyre we haven’t run here, and a grandstand finish.
Our final weekend in Sydney awaits, the penultimate round of the 2021 Supercars Championship, and there will be plenty to look out for as Chaz and Bryce build into Bathurst.
0.007. That was the difference between Chaz and a podium, missing out by the slimmest of margins after a drag race to the line with Shane van Gisbergen.
It was a day that started positively but finished in disappointing fashion on both sides of the garage.
It’s time for week three here in Sydney, as we return to daytime running across Saturday and Sunday.
What more can you say about Chaz? Started last due to a penalty in qualifying for (damaged) body work, stayed positive, put his head down, and drove all the way third!
Bryce wheeled the Mobil 1 Middy’s Racing No. 2 inside the top 10 in Race 23, in what was a tough day for the two other cars.
It’s week two of the Sydney swing, and we are getting ready for more racing under lights, this time, across both days!
For Chaz, most of the race was spent tucked under the rear wing of Jamie Whincup, just lacking that last bit of speed needed to clear him, and as a consequence, hurt the tyre.
After two practice sessions on Friday, one of those under lights, both cars headed straight into qualifying on Saturday afternoon.
