It’s been a rollercoaster ride of a start to the weekend here at the Australian Grand Prix with contact to both cars in both races meaning the drivers have really been put to work.

Race 3

Ryan: P19
Chaz: P4

Chaz Mostert started off the race strong fighting in the top 5 before being pushed wide by Percat which dropped him down to 10th.

With strong pace late in the race, Chaz fought hard and made strategic passes to cross the line 5th but securing 4th position with a post-race time penalty handed to Percat.

It was a frustrating start for Ryan Wood after getting pushed back onto the gravel track early in the race which dropped him back to near dead last.

Ryan kept his cool and managed to work his way back up the pack one by one and finished up 19th.

Race 4

Ryan: P12
Chaz: P17

It was a very mature drive for Ryan as he finished off the day in 12th after getting collected early in the race and dropping back to 18th.

The Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing No. 2 lit up the timing screens late in the race to move it’s way up to 12th after consistently setting fastest laps and making strong overtakes in the late stages.

On the other side of the garage it wasn’t so bright, it was a tough afternoon for Chaz. After fighting strong inside the 10, he got hit by Hazelwood, which damaged his exhaust badly.

The later half of the race the Mobil 1 Optus Racing No. 25 just had to survive, bringing the car home to 17th.

The boys and girls will be hard at work tonight to turn these cars around for two back-to-back qualifying sessions and Race 5 in the afternoon.

“It’s pretty a pretty wild and busy start here, a lot of laps yesterday trying to get my head around this place and learn as much as I can but there wasn’t much time to sit down and reflect on much!

“I think all things considered, I was pretty with the speed we had in yesterday’s race, the car was really good late we just didn’t have much luck.

“Today as well I think we made another step, just didn’t have the luck early, getting pushed wide, otherwise we would have been further up, but the team has done a great job with the Mobil 1 Truck Assist car.

“It’s a reset tomorrow, almost a new weekend with qualifying so I’m really excited to see what we can do.”

“It’s been a whirlwind so far that’s for sure, with a mixed bag of results.

“Fourth yesterday was bittersweet, we had the car for the podium, just getting a tap and losing spots meant we had to fight back, but the race car was good.

“Today was going to be a little harder from ninth, but after a whack, we just had to get it across the line… it was a long 10 laps home.

“Fresh start tomorrow, we can put ourselves in the fight with two more qualifying sessions and go from there.”
