Chaz Mostert takes the final step of the podium on Saturday whilst Ryan Wood collects his first top 10 result.

The morning started off strong for Chaz Mostert with two back-to-back qualifying sessions where he secured his first pole position of the year for Sunday’s race and third position for today’s race.

Ryan didn’t have luck on his side during qualifying after making a few mistakes in the first session and being blocked during the last session which prevented him from starting further up the field.

Race 5

Ryan: 10th
Chaz: 3rd

The Mobil 1 Optus Racing No. 25 didn’t get a strong start off the line which put him down to P6, with a tangle up the road Chaz kept it clean whilst dodging some spinning cars.

During the final laps Chaz was quickly catching Will Brown ahead in second but ran out of laps with the race going time certain after a safety car.

Setting the fastest lap of the race, Chaz collects an additional seven points which is a confidence booster going into tomorrow’s race starting on pole.

What a start for the Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing No. 2, Ryan had his head down and made his way forward early on with some aggressive overtakes.

Keeping the car out of trouble Ryan made a pass with two laps to go to take the final spot in the top 10 for his first top 10 finish, a career best.

There is still plenty of work for the final race of the weekend tomorrow, the crew will tune up the cars overnight ready to finish the weekend off on a high.

Ryan Wood

It was a messy quali session this morning, made a few mistakes and didn’t maximise the car in the first one. Unfortunately, also got blocked during the last session which stopped us from starting further up the grid.

It was nice to race our way forward today and finally stay out of trouble, the car was hooked up during the race which was awesome, a massive credit to the team!

It’s great to get my first top 10 under my belt, really excited to get strapped in tomorrow and we will be looking for another strong result.

Chaz Mostert

Woo that quali session this morning was so much fun! It’s been awesome to reward the team for all their hard work with a pole.

It’s always pretty good getting a trophy, but it’s bittersweet, I’m really dirty with my start but you can’t complain about a top three finish.

I’ll work on my start tonight, we start off pole tomorrow, but a massive thanks to the whole crew and all of our partners, we wouldn’t be out here doing what we love without their support!
