Well that was… chaotic! A strong finish to the weekend with two in the 10, Chaz Mostert up 7 positions and Ryan Wood up 5, can’t complain with that one!

It was a strong start to the day with Ryan and Chaz finishing in the top seven for Practice 3, proving overnight changes were heading in the right direction.

Qualifying didn’t go to plan with Chaz and Ryan getting caught in games with leading cars slowing down the pack, running out of time to get in their second flying lap with Chaz lining up P11 and Ryan P13.

The boys would have their work cut out for them in the race, 55 laps around this place isn’t easy with everyone aggressively fighting for the top spot.

As the lights went out for the final race of the weekend, both cars kept it clean off the line, the first box checked after starting middle of the pack.

On lap 8 the chaos began after a car was spun; lights turned yellow with the safety car called out forcing cars to come off strategy for an early pitstop.

With all cars in the lane, it would be pressure on the crew to execute quick stops with a double stack for Ryan. That’s exactly what they did, Chaz gaining two positions on track and Ryan maintaining position.

Capitalising off the safety car restart, Ryan made up two positions with eyes forward and elbows out, up to P10.

Another incident occurred on lap 20, bunching the field back up putting both the Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing No. 2 and the Mobil 1 Optus Racing No. 25 back in contention to make additional passes.

With 5 laps to go more chaos ensued as another car spun right in front of Chaz who perfectly placed his car down on the inside, dodging all of the carnage, making up two positions and Ryan one position.

Maximising on being in the right place at the right time, Chaz crossed the line P4, up seven positions from where he started and Ryan P8, up five positions.

A solid weekend for the team, we are back up to 2nd position in the Teams Championship ahead of endurance season where Lee Holdsworth and Fabian Coulthard will jump on board with the team.

A massive thank you to all of our partners whether you were here at the track or watching from home, we appreciate all of your support, bring on the enduros!

Chaz Mostert

“Pretty awesome weekend, a great haul of points, today we made it a little bit harder for ourselves starting mid-pack but we stayed out of trouble and came out P4.

“Overall, super stoked with the weekend, a lot of data points for us to look over before we head to Sandown, let’s keep this pressure on!

“We have the weapon Leeroy back in the seat for enduros and we know he carries me most of the time through those events.”

Ryan Wood

“That was so much fun! Ended up P8 with a lot of stuff happening ahead, had some awesome battles out there, can’t complain about a top 10 finish.

“The team did a great job in the pits today, maintaining position under a double stack is awesome, really proud of them.

“Overall, a great weekend of learning for the team, really keen to head into endurance season with Fabs by my side, repping the Kiwis!”
