We are back, and ready to take on the streets of Albert Park for the 2025 Australian Grand Prix!
It’s been a few weeks since the opening round but there has been plenty going on, the crew have been hard at work and are ready to take on one of the busiest weekends of the year.
The team have had some great results at this track in the past and we will be looking to repeat that again this year for both Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood.
Format
The weekend kicks off with one of our busiest days on track for the entire season with six sessions on Thursday. The day sees two practice sessions into two back-to-back qualifying sessions for Race 4 and Race 5 before the lights go out at 5.50pm AEDT for the 105km Race 4.
Friday is a lot quieter with Race 5 at 2.50pm before a bigger day on track on Saturday with two qualifying sessions for the final two races of the weekend. Saturday night at 7.30pm engines will roar for Race 6 before the weekend rounds out on Sunday with the 80km Race 7.
Track
Albert Park is the fastest circuit on the 2024 Supercars calendar, at 5.3km in length, with the average speed of 180km/h and top speed of 275km/h.
Drivers have to be aggressive into the Turn 11-12 chicane leading into Turn 13, as this corner provides a great opportunity to fire it down the inside; keep an eye out for a few moves to be made here over the weekend.
Tyres
We are on the Dunlop Soft tyre all weekend. This is a high degradation track, so tyre management is key this weekend.
Pitstops
Similar to last year, there will be no pitstops, so this puts extra pressure on qualifying as there is no pitstop strategy at play.
How to Watch
Every session, every lap, will be live on Foxtel and Kayo throughout the weekend. Friday, Saturday and Sunday races will have coverage on Channel 10.
Ryan Wood
“I love this track, I had my first top 10 result here last year which brings back some good memories, but we will definitely be looking to take a big step up on that this year.
“This weekend is pretty cool, getting to share the track with the big wigs is honestly surreal, the crowd always turns up so we need to put on a show for them!
“It’s a huge weekend coming up with four days of action on track, the sprint format means there are no pitstops and no strategy so it’s every man for themselves out there.”
Chaz Mostert
“The AGP is always a great event, all the big dogs will be in town, so it will be cool to have them all watching.
“Thursday is a pretty big day for us, we have six sessions on track so it’ll be back-to-back with minimal snack breaks.
“We had a quick race car in Sydney but we didn’t qualify where we wanted to, that’ll be really important this weekend as there are no pitstops to bring strategy into play.”
