Walkinshaw Andretti United (WAU) has today announced that Lincoln Taylor has joined the Team for the 2025 Toyota GR Cup Australia Series.

Taylor, a 16-year-old who hails from Brisbane, Queensland, will continue his Toyota GR Cup journey for his second year, with his first at WAU, in the Method Race Wheels Walkinshaw Andretti United No. 2.

Taylor’s pathway to WAU has been established through the WAU Foundation Academy, a pipeline for young talent ranging from mechanics and drivers to commercial staff and engineers, creating a clear pathway leading to the top category in Australian motorsport.

“I’m incredibly excited to be joining Walkinshaw Andretti United this year in the Toyota GR Cup Series. It’ll be my second year in the series, and I am keen to continue developing my craft on and off track. There’s no better team to learn from than one of the most experienced in pit lane,” said Taylor.

“I’ve already spent a few days in the workshop meeting the team, and I feel right at home. Everyone has been so welcoming, and I can’t wait to get the season underway with them.

“I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped me reach this point – from my family to my partners – thank you so much for your support.

“This opportunity through the WAU Foundation Academy is a once in a lifetime and I am ready to take the wheel and make the most of it.”

Walkinshaw Andretti United CEO, Bruce Stewart, is excited to have Taylor joining the Team in the Toyota GR Cup series this season.

“We are thrilled to have Lincoln join us in 2025, we are looking forward to giving him the opportunity to show what he is made of.

“Lincoln really impressed us at the evaluation day. He has a great mindset and has already shown impressive skill and consistency in the GR Cup in 2024, which gives him a solid foundation to build on.

“It’s awesome to have Warren Luff continue as our driver coach, an integral component of our WAU Foundation Academy, providing invaluable driver insights, techniques and experience for our young drivers like Lincoln, helping them develop the WAU way.” said Stewart.

The WAU Foundation Academy exists to create pathways for emerging talent in Australian motorsport, but not just drivers.

“There is a wealth of youth out there wanting to get involved in motorsport, and through our entry in the Toyota GR Cup and the WAU Foundation Academy, we can provide more opportunities to give hands-on race experience to several younger staff across all departments.” said Stewart.
