Despite the forecast looking grim, the weather gods were on our side yesterday as the team completed their third and final test day of 2017 at Winton Raceway.

A few showers throughout the day caused minor interruptions, but overall, it was dry running for most.

With the Sandown 500 just over a week away, the test day was a chance to focus on endurance season, with both Jack Perkins and Warren Luff joining James Courtney and Scott Pye to turn laps in both cars.

Walkinshaw Racing General Manager of Motorsport, Mathew Nilsson, said it was a productive day focusing on the broad range of things that must be right for the enduros.

“It was an interrupted test day, but we still managed to achieve a majority of what we set out to achieve,” Nilsson said.

“Being a pre-endurance test, obviously a key was ticking off the endurance aspects like driver changes, pit stop practice and all the one per cent stuff.”

“That preparation can have as much of an impact as car speed come race day, so we dotted the i’s and crossed the t’s so to speak.

“We also continued down the direction we have taken in the previous events.

“Having the co-drivers down getting their eyes in before they jump back in their cars next Friday was also advantageous, so we are really looking forward to having them back to race.”

Now, the attention turns to our home event, the Sandown 500.

The truck will make the quick trip down the Princes Highway on Thursday, before car 2 and 22 hit the track on Friday morning.
