Mobil 1™ Boost Mobile Racing has left Adelaide with the teams championship lead, one podium, and four top 10 finishes in a successful start to the season.

The result came through James Courtney and Scott Pye charging through the field in today’s 250km race around the streets of Adelaide, to finish sixth and eighth respectively.

After a tough qualifying session, where JC was hindered by a damaged rim, and Scott Pye couldn’t get a clean lap, the boys lined up 14th and 15th on the grid to start the day.

Like Pye did yesterday, JC stopped at the end of the first lap to find clear air.

It paid dividends immediately, as he moved inside the top 10 as the first round of stops filtered through.

Scott Pye went the opposite way, running as long as possible in the first stint, before a quick second stint to align with JC.

After the second round of stops, JC and Scott found themselves bumper to bumper just outside the top five, with just over 30 laps to get home.

As the race had no safety cars, fuel was going to be tight, but they did a great job driving to a number, while keeping Lowndes and Caruso behind them.

To move forward 15 spots between them and into the top 10 was a great fight from both, and to walk away with the lead in the teams championship is a great reward for all the hard work over the summer break by everyone.

It’s only one round, but the momentum is positive. Now we move on to the Australian Grand Prix in a few weeks time, racing for points.

“It was nice to have a positive afternoon and grab a top 10 finish in the end.

“We thought we could have been a little higher up in qualifying, so it wasn’t going to be an easy afternoon, but the car was really good, and the strategy worked well.

“To have both cars inside the 10 in both races is a really solid start to the year for the whole team.

“I’m really looking forward to getting to the AGP, and continuing the momentum.”
