Mobil 1™ Boost Mobile Racing has capped of a solid weekend in Tasmania with both cars inside the top-six in race eight of the championship, leaving the weekend second in the overall Teams Championship.

James Courtney crossed the line in fourth, with Scott Pye two spots behind him in sixth in the 200km race around Symmons Plains.

Following on from yesterday’s podium, James Courtney advanced directly through to stage two of qualifying after recording the sixth best time in practice 4. Scott just missed out, in 12th.

Both cars made it into the third stage of qualifying, which determined the top-10, resulting in a seventh place start for JC and a 10th place start for Scott for the 84-lap race.

Both cars showed strong pace in the opening stint, despite different strategies.

JC stopped on lap-24, and immediately was able to move his way up the order due to some blistering laps out of the box, which included the quickest lap of the race.

Pye went six-laps longer, meaning he would have the advantage of fresher tyres at the end of the race.

After the second round of stops, JC found himself in fourth, just out of striking distance from the top three, where he would go on to finish.

Scott was on the charge late, moving up three spots to come home in sixth, a few laps away from claiming a top-five.

All-in-all, it was a great result for the team. Both cars’ race pace was strong, and both qualified in the top-10 for both races, a real key focus of ours.

James walks away from the round in fourth in the Drivers Championship, with Scott in seventh.

The momentum continued to build this weekend, now it’s about taking another step forward at Phillip Island in a few weeks time.

“It’s a real positive sign when we are not content with two top-six finishes, it shows the confidence and the belief among the group that we can achieve great things.

“The car was really good today, we just used a little too much of the tyre early in the last stint to have a go at the guys on the podium.

“I’m already looking forward to Phillip Island.”

“Overall, a really positive weekend where we definitely took another step forward.

“Qualifying was a little bit disappointing in that we just didn’t get enough out of the tyre, but to still be in the top-10 was great.

“The car today was good. We were able to move forward in the race and grab another solid result.

“We are headed in the right direction, but we will continue to work hard over the next week and have another crack at Phillip Island.”
