It’s been a whirlwind start to the year, with six rounds already in the books in the 2018 championship.

With a few weekends off before round 7 in Darwin, it gave us a chance to reflect on what sent chins wagging so far this year.

Consistency

Six rounds, podiums at four of those, and a fourth-place finish at another. Consistency at every track has certainly been a focus for the team this year, and so far, so good. Both drivers are in the top 10 of the championship, and we are sitting third in the Teams Championship. Still a long way to go but it’s been a solid start.

That Win

Who could forget it? In 20 years’ time there will be people standing around the watercooler at work (if they still exist) talking about the race at the Grand Prix that finished in the dark, where the rain started to fall, and Scott Pye took his maiden win. No one can say he didn’t have to earn that one. It will be replayed for years to come, and we couldn’t be happier.

JC's Happy Hunting Ground

There’s no doubt there’s just something special about JC in Adelaide, and he showed that once again this year with a second on Saturday and fourth on Sunday. He hustles that car around the streets of the city of churches like few others can. It was also important that he backed that podium up with another trophy in Tasmania a few rounds later to show that the car speed is there.

Getting the ZB to the Track

It was an absolute mammoth effort making sure two of the all-new ZB Commodores rolled out at the Sydney Motorsport Park test day earlier this year. With parts delayed and then on short supply, it meant some major hours by the boys in the workshop to get the job done. We tip our hats to them!

The Visits Bring Luck

First it was Michael Andretti alongside Ryan Walkinshaw standing at the bottom of the podium in Adelaide with JC on the second step, then Zak Brown and Richard Dean from United Autosports at the Grand Prix who were there to witness Scott’s win. It seems the owners bring good luck in 2018. The question begs, what will happen at Bathurst when all three parties are in attendance?

The Focus

Six rounds down, 10 to go. There is still a long way to go this year, and everyone knows it. The break between Winton and Darwin gives everyone a chance to catch their breath, but by no means is the hard work stopping. The team is hungry for better results, more podiums, and more wins. Bring it on.
