Mobil 1™ Boost Mobile Racing has completed its first in-season test day of 2018 at Winton Raceway yesterday, with positive signs coming from it.

After delaying the second of three test days available this year until the appropriate arsenal was available, the team went into the day with a comprehensive programme, which was achieved in the eight and a half-hour time restriction.

“We had some new hardware to try on the car today, which was why we delayed the test until now,” said Co-Team Principal Mathew Nilsson.

“It was a busy day, with a full programme to get through, but the team did a great job not only getting the cars ready for the test after a tight turn around, but also ensuring that we got through a majority that was planned for the day.

“There were some definite positives to come out of it. Test days are sometimes hard to get a read on in comparison to others, but we are pleased with the developments we made across the day.

Both car 2 and 25 were in action, with Scott Pye and James Courtney doing the majority of the running, but co-drivers Warren Luff and Jack Perkins were on hand to jump in their respective cars and turn some laps, as the endurance season draws closer.

“Any time you can get Warren and Jack in the car is a positive, and they did a great job with their feedback, but also helping us get through the development program,” Nilsson said.

“Now our focus turns to Tailem Bend, where we look to continue to develop what we learned today. Heading to a new track is a curve-ball for the entire field, but we head there confident.”

Following Tailem Bend, the team plans to take part in their third and final test day for the year on September 4 at Winton Raceway, the traditional pre-enduro test.
