James Courtney finished 15th and Scott Pye 16th in race 22 of the championship on Sunday at The Bend.

Both cars didn’t have the pace or balance required across the 200kms to push any further forward than where they finished, as Scott gained four spots from where he started, while JC lost two.

The day started off on the wrong foot for Car No. 22, who missed most of the opening practice session due to a transaxle issue. The boys in the garage did a great job in getting it fixed and back out for one lap in the end to ensure everything was back to normal.

This morning’s qualifying session saw JC advance through to stage 2 before setting the 13th quickest time, while Scott’s time saw him start 20th.

Both cars continued their opening lap form of gaining positions, avoiding the drama and keeping the cars straight.

However, on lap six, Tim Slade ran off the track in-front of JC, dragging dirt onto the track and causing him to follow off the road. He lost six spots before re-joining, immediately pitting for his first stop.

The Car No. 2 side of the garage opted for the longer strategy in both stints, looking for clear air and tyre life at the end.

With 14 laps to go, and both final stops complete, JC and Scott found themselves nose to tail on the road, which continued on until the flag.

A tough day at the office, and disappointing way to close out the weekend.

Now, we have two weekends back at the workshop before heading across the ditch to New Zealand for the final sprint round before endurance season.
