Walkinshaw Andretti United enjoyed a positive third and final test day for 2019 at Winton Motor Raceway yesterday, October 1, as the team finalised their endurance preparations for the Mobil 1 backed pairings of Scott Pye and Warren Luff, as well as James Courtney and Jack Perkins.
The day also included the first on-track running of the 2019 Bathurst 1000 Wildcard entry, with Alexander Rossi and James Hinchcliffe enjoying time behind the wheel of the No. 27 NAPA Auto Parts Racing Holden Commodore.
Walkinshaw Andretti United Co-Team Principal Mathew Nilsson was pleased with how the day eventuated.
“The traditional pre-endurance test day is always an important one each year, but even more so this year with no endurance lead-up before Bathurst,” Nilsson said.
“It’s a day that is important not just for the on-track work, but for working on things like brake rotor changes with the crew, and driver change practice with the drivers, so there’s a bit of everything involved.
“We had a comprehensive programme to get through, and overall, the feedback was positive.
“Obviously Winton is a very different circuit to Bathurst, but we were able to work through things that were aimed at The Mountain.
“It was also great to see both Alexander and James behind the wheel, they did a fantastic job day one. I’m looking forward to two more days here at Winton to prepare them for their first time at Mount Panorama.”
The team will travel to Bathurst early next week, with practice 1 beginning proceedings on Thursday, October 10.
