Scott Pye and Warren Luff have finished fourth, and James Courtney and Jack Perkins ninth in race 27, a 300km race around the streets of the Gold Coast.

For Scott and Warren, they showed fantastic pace throughout the entire weekend, and were always on the move forward during the 102-laps.

For JC and Jack, they had a curveball thrown at them at the first stop, when the driver’s side door wouldn’t shut due to an issue with the latch. That resulted in a black flag and an unscheduled pit stop to tape it shut, but they did a great job to fight back into the top-10.

The day started positively when both cars advanced to the Top-10 Shootout, resulting in Car No. 22 starting from sixth, and Car No. 2 starting from seventh.

Both got away cleanly, with the co-drivers handing over to the main drivers in the same position they started once their minimum 33-laps were complete.

After the extra stop for JC, he pressed on and moved from 18th to 14th, while Scott was punching out good times in fifth.

After the final round of stops, JC popped out in ninth, and Scott fifth.

The highlight came on lap-85 when Scott got down the inside of Waters for fourth, in a fantastic move.

Both cars had great pace until the end, but couldn’t get the next cars in line in the dying stages. JC also set the fastest lap of the race in the final stint.

Overall, it was a positive weekend with a great foundation to build from before we head to Sandown in two weeks’ time.

“Really good weekend for us, the team did a great job, and the car was excellent all day.

“The pace we had on older tyres both yesterday and today was really strong, and then to top it off with the shootout today was a great result. We would have loved to get the one place higher and take home a surfboard, but we will take the fourth, and a bank the points.

“It gives everyone a lift heading into Sandown. Luffy did a great job again, the crew did a good job in the lane with our stops, and it was a fun car to drive.

“Can’t wait to get there already.”

“Great weekend for us and the team. The car balance was excellent, it was easy to drive, and Scotty did a great job to bring it home in fourth.

“So close to a surfboard, but it’s still a great result, and a credit to everyone here at Walkinshaw Andretti United.

“Really excited for Sandown now, we had a great car there last year, and we will head in full of confidence.”

James Courtney

“That door latch cost us a really strong result today, but it was good to fight back and get in the 10.

“The car started the weekend strong and got better and better as the weekend progressed which is always a good thing.

“Things definitely didn’t fall our way today, and the results weren’t a true reflection of the potential of the car, but it is what it is.

“Bring on Sandown.”

“It’s a shame that door wouldn’t shut. We were strong today, and could have definitely had a crack at the front.

“We were looking strong with a good car when I jumped out, but it wasn’t to be… and that’s motorsport.

“The car was good all weekend, which means we’ve definitely got a bit to with for Sandown in a few weeks. Hopefully I can finish my year with another trophy!”
