The Truck Assist Sydney SuperSprint is a wrap, as the team recorded a consistent weekend over the three races, including a fifth place finish for Chaz Mostert, and Bryce Fullwood’s best ever Supercar result when he crossed the line seventh in the final race of the weekend.

Qualifying

Back-to-back 10-minute sessions meant that it was a one-lap dash in both.

Chaz ended up in sixth and eighth with his two runs, which put him in the hunt.

Bryce got a kerb hop in the first session, which mean his lap was deleted. In session two, he set the 16th best time.

Race 11

Chaz 5th, Bryce 15th

Both cars started on the hard tyre, which meant a little bit of pain early as the soft-tyre starters forced their way through.

Once settled, Chaz was the quickest car on hard tyres, while Bryce was still moving forward.

Bryce stopped on lap 10, and opted to stay on the hard compound. With track position, he drove with his elbows up for the remaining 22-laps, keeping the train behind him despite their tyre advantage, to finish in 15th.

Chaz was the man to watch late. He put a fresh set of soft tyres on, and went from 11th to fifth, including a last lap battle where he nearly snatched a podium finish.

Once again, the crew were outstanding, bettering their pit-stop time yesterday to be the quickest in the field on Car No. 2, with a 3.6 second stop.

Race 12

Bryce 7th, Chaz 9th

With two sets of soft tyres up his sleeve, Bryce went to work early, pushing his way through into the top-10 within laps.

Despite Jamie Whincup in his mirrors for over 20-laps, Bryce kept his cool, and recorded his best-ever Supercars race finish.

Chaz started on the hard tyre, but still put in some fantastic lap times to be inside the top-10 when he stopped at the half way point. From there, he put pressure on Whincup in the closing stages, before crossing the line in ninth, which put him fifth overall in the weekend points.

Bryce Fullwood

“We had some pretty big swings at the car, and overall, we learnt quite a lot. The car is probably not quite responding how we want it to just yet, which hurt us in qualifying today.

“Having said that, I was really excited to redeem ourselves and come back in the race. We saved all our tyres up for the last one, but it was really cool to hold Whincup off at the end there.

“Really happy with our progress, and pretty stoked to be up that high in my first year. A credit to all the boys and girls at Walkinshaw Andretti United because the Mobil 1 Middy’s rocket was going pretty good!”

Chaz Mostert

“We had a pretty weekend in terms of points and definitely learnt a few things that we will try next round.

“To be honest I’m still pretty proud to come away in the top-five weekend points, and third in the championship.

“We will keep accumulating those points, keep learning about our car and make it stronger each round.”
