Supercars has today confirmed that the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship will head to Townsville for back-to-back races around the Reid Park circuit.

The streets of Townsville will host a double-header of Supercars action, with an additional weekend of racing booked for 5-6 September, the weekend after the originally scheduled 29-30 August, known as the NTI Townsville SuperSprint.

Spectators will be permitted to attend both weekends, all tickets will need to be pre-purchased as no gate sales will be on offer. Tickets are available HERE.

The first weekend will be broadcast on Foxtel and 10HD, as well as streamed on Kayo, with the second event live and ad-free on Fox Sports and Kayo.

“We’d like to thank the Queensland Government and Townsville City Council for supporting this concept which allows Supercars to race at one of our favourite circuits on back-to-back weekends,” Supercars CEO Sean Seamer said.

“Two weeks of racing in Townsville allows us to maximise exposure and competition during the key Northern leg of this year’s championship.”

“Supercars would like to thank drivers, officials, team personnel and their families for their continued support of this year’s Championship during these times.”

Both Chaz Mostert and Bryce Fullwood will be in action around the streets of Townsville, following two events at Hidden Valley Raceway in Darwin, the first of which gets underway next weekend, August 15-16.
