That’s a wrap on Darwin… for this week anyway, as two races closed off the Triple Crown. Next weekend we will be back here to do it all again at the CoreStaff Darwin SuperSprint!

Qualifying 1

Chaz 10th, Bryce 23rd

Qualifying 2

Chaz 4th, Bryce 22nd

Two back-to-back 10-minute sessions meant it was, in essence, a one-lap flyer each on the soft tyre.

After wholesale changes to the Mobil 1™ Middy’s Racing No. 2 overnight, Bryce rolled straight into qualifying with a very different car, which was always going to take some getting used to.

The No. 25 was improved between sessions, resulting in a competitive starting position for the final race of the day.

Race 14

Chaz 8th, Bryce 18th

Both cars made up spots in the opening few laps before a flurry in the lane on laps four and five, which saw both cars stop for rears only.

Chaz managed to jump Waters and Winterbottom during the stop, which put him on the rear bar of De Pasquale. From there, there was not much change in the order up and down the field.

Race 15

Chaz 4th, Bryce 19th

Chaz got away well to be third by turn 1. Once again, most of the field stopped early, with Chaz just pipped by Shane van Gisbergen on pit exit.

From there, he held off Fabian Coulthard for the remainder of the race, but was just out of reach of a podium finish to round out the weekend. That fourth-place finish put Chaz fifth in the overall points for the weekend.

For Bryce, he went longer, stopping mid-race for tyres. He picked a few off at the end, but it wasn’t the race or weekend he had hoped for heading in.

Chaz Mostert

“Overall, I think we can be pretty proud we finished top-five in the points again this weekend, especially considering we had a bit of hard luck in qualifying.

“I think we have definitely made some improvements with our car from the last round, we’re continuing to learn, and we will keep working at making it quicker.

“It’s awesome to be able to come straight back here next weekend and have another go, so I’m really looking forward to that, it’s a pretty unique experience.”

Bryce Fullwood

“Tough weekend to be honest, there was a bit of soul searching throughout, but we’ve got next weekend as well.

“We will get the data through the week and be able to look a little deeper into it, work out what went on, and try and make some improvements for next weekend. It’s rare we get that opportunity with the back-to-back rounds, so we will have our heads down during the week.

“Still, it’s really cool to be here in Darwin racing. To see the family on the hill was awesome, and the best bit is I get to come back next weekend and do it all again.”
