Our Darwin-double has come to a close, with Sunday hosting two 28-lap races to finish the weekend.

Now, the truck leaves tomorrow and heads to Townsville for another two weekends back-to-back around Reid Park.

Qualifying Race 17

Chaz 12th, Bryce 19th

Both drivers reported an improvement in the cars overnight, despite not showing just yet on the time sheet. It’s always a tricky situation to jump into a new car straight for qualifying.

Qualifying Race 18

Chaz 5th, Bryce 13th

A big improvement between sessions, with both cars moving up the order, into much more competitive starting positions for the final race of the day.

Race 17

Bryce 17th, Chaz 18th

Both drivers reported significant improvements in the race platform of the cars early on in the race.

Chaz was the one to watch late, as he went from 12th after the stop, into a fight with Percat for seventh. After getting around him at turn five, Percat came back under at turn one. As Mostert went for the over-and-under, Percat slowed the car enough that Chaz made contact with the rear bar or the No. 8.

For Bryce, he made spots up late, but like many others, found it difficult in traffic behind other cars.

Qualifying Race 18

Chaz 6th, Bryce 17th

Chaz scored his best finish of the weekend in the final race, in a 38-lap fight with four cars around him. He had the speed, but track position was king in the final stages, meaning he couldn’t fight for a podium.

Bryce did extremely well in the opening stint to hold off Coulthard, before being run into to and forced wide. For his part, Coulthard was handed a five-second penalty. He soldiered on in the second stint, crossing the line in 17th.

“We had a solid weekend, learnt a lot, and I think my personal improvement was really good across the two weekends.

“We had a reasonable qualifying car, but had a braking issues in qualifying this morning, which was a shame because we could have done a lot better.

“We’ve got some homework to do with the car before next weekend, but even still, it was really cool to be racing in the hometown in front of a heap of local fans. It was awesome to see the shirts on the hill which was something I could never have dreamt of as a kid that’s for sure.

“Really keen to go racing again next week in Townsville!”

Chaz Mostert

“Interesting weekend, with a lot of mixed results for us, with the last one being the highlight, qualifying fifth and finishing sixth.

“There was a bit of soul-searching across the weekend, but I think we learnt a lot about our car. I know I’m sounding like a bit of a broken record on that one, but I think we know the things we need to develop going forward.

“Hopefully we get some things to Townsville, and it livens the No. 25 up a bit and we can get some good results up there.

“Looking forward to next weekend already.”
