Our four-week frenzy of racing continues this weekend, this time in Far North Queensland at the nti Townsville SuperSprint.
After the truck left Monday morning from Darwin, we’ve arrived in cowboy-country for another two race meetings in two weekends, with all the action getting underway tomorrow morning.
The Track
Reid-park is a half street, half purpose built, 2.86km track that sits just outside the Townsville CBD.
In typical street circuit fashion, it is a concrete jungle in parts… any mistake is punished by the concrete barriers that surround the track.
Tyres
All running will be on the soft-tyre this weekend, with five sets allocated across the three races.
Townsville is notoriously hard on tyres, especially rears, so there will be a lot more degradation seen in comparison to Darwin, which puts tyre choice and allocation into the spotlight.
Format
Format will follow the same process as last weekend, with three sprint-races across the weekend.
Saturday starts with two practice sessions, before qualifying, a top-10 shootout, and a 39-lap race.
On Sunday, there will once again be two rapid-fire qualifying sessions in a row that set the grid for the two 39-lap races to round out the weekend.
The Stats
Bryce Fullwood won both his Super2 races in Townsville in 2019, so is no stranger to the streets here, and Chaz Mostert stood on the podium 12-months ago.

Every session across the weekend will be live on Fox Sports and Kayo.

A top of 27c is predicted across both days, with no rain in the forecast.

“It’s awesome to be back racing again, it was a bit of an up-and-down weekend in Darwin, but we’ve got another opportunity to aim for that top-five each race like we’ve been doing, and learn more about the car.
“It’s such an awesome place and track here, and it’s so cool to be back racing on a street-circuit, we’ve missed them.
“The crew here at WAU, and their families back home, continue to make sacrifices to keep the sport going, and are putting in huge hours in this busy month, so we can’t thank them enough.”

“I love this place, so it’s awesome to be back here for another two weekends of racing.
“I come here with some pretty happy memories, with the two wins last year around here, so I’m hoping that helps me when we get underway on Saturday. We are still chipping away at the car, but hopefully we can roll out in the window and see where we end up.
“The boys have put in a huge amount of work to make sure everything is right for this weekend, which I can’t thank them enough for.”
