We’re back in action for the fourth weekend in a row for the Townsville SuperSprint 2.0.

After a successful part 1 of the event on both sides of the garage, highlighted by two podium finishes for Chaz Mostert, we head back in full of confidence, after a week of hard work in between events.

The Track

Reid-park is a half street, half purpose built, 2.86km track that sits just outside the Townsville CBD.

In typical street circuit fashion, it is a concrete jungle in parts… any mistake is punished by the concrete barriers that surround the track.

Tyres

All running will be on the soft-tyre this weekend, with five sets allocated across the three races.

Last week, we saw some people change four, three or two tyres in each stop, so how that plays out in the pitlane will be of interest.

Format

Format will follow the same process as last weekend, with three sprint-races.

Saturday starts with two practice sessions, before qualifying, a top-10 shootout, and a 39-lap race.

On Sunday, there will once again be two rapid-fire qualifying sessions in a row that set the grid for the two 39-lap races to round out the weekend.

How to Watch

Every session across the weekend will be live on Fox Sports and Kayo.

Weather

Both days are in the high 20’s, with a little bit more cloud cover on the Saturday, with no rain on the forecast at this stage.

Chaz Mostert

“Really pumped to get back out here in Townsville this weekend, especially coming off the back of a good round, which was a nice reward for all the hard work team has put in, particularly over the last few months.

“It was awesome to get a couple of trophies last weekend, but it’s a new round now, so we will be working hard to close the gap, and keep learning what we’ve got with this car.

“We’ve kept our heads down this week, had a look through the data, so we will see how we roll out on Saturday morning!”

Bryce Fullwood

“I’m really excited to get back out there this weekend, we had a strong weekend last weekend, and found some areas to improve, so it’s nice having that as the foundation to this weekend.

“Where we finished the weekend was really positive in the direction we took, so it’s given us plenty to think about over the week and work on.

“It’s been a big month of racing, so we’d love to finish it off with some more strong results before we head to Adelaide.”
