After a weekend to recharge and regroup, we’re back in action this Saturday and Sunday for the first of two events at The Bend.

Last time we were here was the pre-season test day in February… a lot has changed in the world since then, but after a successful month of racing up north, we are excited to finish the year on a high, starting this weekend.

The Track

This weekend we are on the International Circuit configuration, which is 4.95km long, and has 18 turns. It’s a long lap, which is high load, with long sweeping corners.

Tyres

For the first time at The Bend, all running will be done on the soft tyre. In previous years, we have been on the hard tyre, due to the long-loaded corners, but with the surface here being so smooth, and the degradation low, the call has been made to run the softs.

Managing the tyre load across the race will be key.

Format

Saturday starts with two practice sessions, before qualifying, a top-15 shootout, and a 24-lap race.

On Sunday, there will once again be two rapid-fire qualifying sessions in a row that set the grid for the two 24-lap races to round out the weekend.

How to Watch

Every session across the weekend will be live on Fox Sports and Kayo.

Weather

For the first time this season, we’re expecting rain on Saturday! Neither Bryce nor Chaz has driven a WAU Supercar in the wet, so they will be out to maximise wet running in practice if it comes in like expected.

Chaz Mostert

“So great to be back at The Bend racing again. We had a couple of reasonable results here last year, so I’m excited to be back.

“Looking forward to rolling out here on Saturday morning. We’ve done a lot of work on the car since the pre-season test day, I’m a lot more comfortable, and we’ve learnt a heap, so it will be great to put that into action over the weekend.

“If it rains it will certainly be interesting, we haven’t driven in the wet in a while, but overall, I’m just really excited to be here in the Mobil 1 Appliances Online No. 25.”

Bryce Fullwood

“I think we learnt a lot and made some good gains in Townsville, despite coming away empty handed, so it’ll be great to see that in action this weekend.

“The test day here at the start of the year was a big day. It was my first time in the car, the first proper day at this track, so we’ve come a long way since then, but it’s great to be able to have that under the belt.

“Rain might be interesting but everyone is in the same boat with limited wet running this year, I just can’t wait to jump in the Mobil 1 Middy’s Racing No. 2 and see how the weekend unfolds!”
