Race 28 of the 2020 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship is in the books from Tailem Bend.

Tomorrow, we have two more races ahead of us to round out the penultimate round of the year.

Qualifying

Bryce 10th, Chaz 12th

Both drivers made it through to the shootout. Bryce set a very competitive lap time early on old which advanced him up the order in a very tight field. One more tenth of a second would have seen him in the top five.

Chaz had his hands full on his shootout lap. Despite heading in with the fourth best time, his lap was only good enough for 12th.

Race 28

Chaz 11th, Bryce 15th

Bryce struggled to get the No. 2 off the line, dropping him back to 17th by turn 1. Chaz did well to avoid him off the line, before keeping his nose clean on the opening lap.

Bryce stopped early, peeling into the lane on lap six, jumping a couple of cars via the undercut. He managed tyre life well mid-race, but like many others, couldn’t get close enough to the cars in front to get by.

After the tyre degradation issues we faced with the No. 25 last week, the call was made to go longer, stopping mid-race.

He had pace over Jamie Whincup and Fabian Coulthard in front, but couldn’t find a way by in the closing stages.

The tyre life was much better across both cars today, which gives us direction to go tomorrow.

Chaz Mostert

“Not a great day but a day of learning. The car is very different to last week, there was a couple of positives we found in the race even though the result doesn’t quite reflect where we want to be.

“I’m sure we will be stronger tomorrow and build some more confidence in the race car. We will see if we can help ourselves out by starting a bit closer to the front.”

Bryce Fullwood

“I didn’t get a good start, which we will look into what went wrong there, but there were a few encouraging signs, in terms deg with the tyres and the overall car balance.

“The car was pretty speedy, I just made it difficult in the race.

“Tyres don’t seem to be as big of a problem this weekend so tomorrow will be interesting. Hopefully I can qualify a bit better and see how we go.”
