Chaz Mostert had put in a blistering lap in the Top 10 Shootout at Bathurst to qualify in third position for The Great Race.

As rain threatened, Chaz was third out in the order, setting the bar high early and only being topped by two of the last three cars.

His 2.04.01 lap time was a hold your breath lap the entire time, as he put it all on the line in typical Mostert fashion.

He and Warren Luff will be the first Holden on the grid in position three, with Bryce Fullwood and Kurt Kostecki not far behind in 11th for the 161-lap race.

The 2020 Bathurst 1000 starts at the slightly earlier time of 11:00am AEDT, due to predicted rain. It will be live on Channel 10, Fox Sports 506 and Kayo.

“I can’t thank everyone in the team, here and at home enough for their efforts not only this weekend but the entire season.

“We’ve been working at the qualifying car all weekend, slowly chipping away at it, and it was a lot of fun to drive today.

“We’re in a good position for tomorrow, I think we’ve got a pretty good race car and Luffy has done an incredible job all weekend, so I can’t wait.”
