Walkinshaw Andretti United has enjoyed a positive first day on track for 2021, at the Victorian leg of the first official test day of the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship at Winton Motor Raceway.

Both cars completed a full day of running around the 3km circuit in regional Victoria, with the Mobil 1 Middy’s Racing No. 2 and the Mobil 1 Appliances Online No. 25 completing over 200 laps between them.

Joining Chaz Mostert and Bryce Fullwood were their respective co-drivers, Lee Holdsworth and Warren Luff, who both did stints in the car throughout the day, critical with the limited co-driver racing in 2021.

It was a hot summer day, with track temperatures approaching the 60-degree mark for most of the day, which made conditions a little tricky at times, but both programmes were fully worked through between the 9am start, and 5:30pm finish.

The Team now head straight back to Clayton to finalise preparations for the Mount Panorama 500, with the truck set to depart on Tuesday.

On track action starts with practice next Friday, before two 250km, single driver races across the weekend.

Chaz Mostert

“Today was a good day. The team have worked hard over the break, so it was nice to see that all come together.

“Test days are always big days with a lot going on, but we got through our plans today which is always important. Some things worked, some things didn’t but that’s what these days are for.

“It was just really nice to be back behind the wheel, and to everyone’s credit, continue to find that direction we need to head.

“I’m really looking forward to Bathurst now, I’m glad we only have to wait a couple of days.”

Bryce Fullwood

“It was awesome to be back in the car today.

“Everyone has worked really hard over the off-season to make sure we had the right tools today, so I can’t thank everyone at WAU enough.

“We got through what we wanted to get a greater understanding of today, which was really pleasing, and given us plenty to think about for this year.

“I can’t wait to get to The Mountain now, and get our 2021 campaign underway.”
