Walkinshaw Andretti United has announced that the Team has released Lee Holdsworth from his final year of his contract as a co-driver, so that he can explore a full time opportunity in the Supercars Championship in 2022 with Grove Racing.

Holdsworth returned to the Team at the beginning of 2021 as co-driver to Chaz Mostert, with the two teaming up to win the 2021 Bathurst 1000 in the Mobil 1 Appliances Online No. 25.

Everyone at Walkinshaw Andretti United wish Lee all the very best in 2022, we look forward to racing alongside him for the full calendar year.

The Team will announce its co-driver line up for 2022 in the new year.

Bruce Stewart

“While it’s certainly disappointing not to have Lee with us in 2022, we are rapt that he gets another full time opportunity on the grid next year, and we wouldn’t want to stand in the way of that.

“He certainly showed his talent in 2021, so is very deserving of this opportunity, and we look forward to competing against him full time next year.

“No one will forget what he and Chaz were able to do at Bathurst, helping us bring the Peter Brock Trophy back to Clayton, so we hope that we see him back in the WAU family once again in the future."
