1 hour and 15 minutes before the race, Car 25 was forced to do a complete engine change post qualifying.

The crew’s mammoth effort was rewarded with a podium from Chaz, after he got a fantastic start from third, and then controlled second position for the remainder of the race.

Nick sustained some damage in a messy opening lap which wounded him for the rest of the race, finishing in 19th.

Both cars got away cleanly and made up spots which was important.

With track temperatures dramatically cooling, the decision was made to go aggressive on strategy on both cars.

Nick was running inside the top 10 all race until contact with James Courtney damaged his power steering, meaning he had to just circulate for points for the remainder of the race.

Chaz battled for a podium late, just missing out, not having the tyre life of others around him, but a second and a fourth is a lot better than our Saturday on that side of the garage.

Chaz Mostert

“Big turnaround today, can’t thank the team for their work all weekend but especially today, to get that engine change done and that result is exactly why I love this team, it’s incredible to watch.

“We probably went too aggressive in the second race but that’s the risk we take sometimes going for the win.

“Really pumped to get back to New Zealand now, and give Pukekohe the send off it deserves.”

Nick Percat

“Think we made some inroads on the car for the second race especially but didn’t get to show it.

“The luck has got to turn soon, we are all working our backsides off, so I can’t thank everyone in the team and all our partners enough.

“Hopefully we can make the final Pukekohe one to remember for the right reasons.”
