Chaz Mostert and Fabian Coulthard threw absolutely EVERYTHING at it around The Mountain today, finishing second in The Great Race.

Nick Percat and Warren Luff were looking extremely strong for the first half of the race, running inside the top four, but unfortunately Nick found the wall at the elbow, suffering major damage, eventually finishing in 22nd.

Mount Panorama was at her moody best to start the race, with massive puddles, rivers and standing water causing havoc, especially early.

Both Fabian and Warren started the race, and did a huge job to avoid the carnage and start super strongly, running in second and third in the early stages.

It was safety car city in the early stages of the race, which meant two double-stack pit stops to cause some headaches, but both cars were looking strong on pace, with all four drivers.

When we got to the halfway point, Car 2 was inside the top four, and Car 25 was making their move, overcoming some issues with the car (Crew did a fantastic job in the lane) to put themselves in the fight.

Unfortunately, when The Mountain bites, it bites hard, and Nick found the wall at the elbow, suffering huge damage.

The crew did an amazing job to get Car 2 back out there, 10 laps down, and in time to be classified as a finisher.

Just over half way, Fabian handed the keys to Chaz, doing an amazing job all day to keep the car in the fight, right up the front.

As the race heated up with two stints to go, Chaz sat in third, right behind the rear bar of Brodie Kostecki.

With 22 to go, the Car 25 crew pulled the trigger on the final stop, and after some speedy work in the lane and on the out lap, Chaz moved into second.

From there, it was a shootout to the end between Shane and Chaz, qualifying laps for 40 laps, but Chaz just lacked that last little bit to get past, finishing agonisingly short of a dream back-to-back.

Still, we couldn’t be prouder of the fight everyone showed today.

That’s six consecutive Bathurst 1000 podiums. Roll on Gold Coast.

Chaz Mostert

“We didn’t quite get the win today, but so proud of everyone to get second, I love this team.

“Fabs did a fantastic job, the team did absolutely everything they could, it just didn’t quite go as smooth as we wanted.

“We definitely can’t be disappointed with standing on the Bathurst podium after the weekend, it hurts a little bit not to get that win, but still an amazing feeling.

“The fans and partners were awesome his weekend they braved the conditions, and it was so cool to see them all out there today.”

Fabian Coulthard

“We would have loved to have won the race but second is still fantastic and everyone in this team can be very proud.

“Lots of effort goes into this event, all the preparation here and at base, everyone played their role and did a fantastic job.

“Proud of this, I know how hard it is to get on the podium here so it’s a feeling I won’t forget in a hurry that’s for sure.

Nick Percat

“Not that day we were planning on, really sad with how it ended up.

“Massive thanks to the team and Luffy for doing a mega job and giving us a really fast car, Luffy got an awesome start, moved forward, put us in a really strong position and then a mistake on my behalf with a wrong slot going down the gears put us in the wall.

“I’m really sorry from my side of things to everyone, the support this weekend has been incredible and it’s really overwhelming to be honest.”

Warren Luff

“It was great to be here with Nick this weekend, disappointing from our side, but congrats to the other side of the garage, great to see Car 25 up on the podium again.

“Can’t thank the team enough for their hard work this week and in the lead up, they have been amazing, and from everyone around the team as well.

“Make sure you keep following the guys in their final two rounds of the year, I’m sure there are big things in store. Thanks again.”
