IT’S BACK!

The streets of Adelaide are about to come alive again, as we return for the VALO Adelaide 500, resurrected for 2022.

It will be a big weekend on all fronts as we say goodbye to Holden, with both cars running a HRT inspired livery for the weekend, as the lion and helmet return to the side of the car.

Format

Four days on track!

We kick things off with a Thursday afternoon practice session, before a second practice session at 1:15pm Friday, and then qualifying at 5:30pm Friday evening.

Our final practice session is on Saturday morning, before a Top 10 Shootout, and the first 250km race which gets underway at 3:15pm Adelaide time.

Our final day of the year begins with qualifying, a Top-10 Shootout, and the last dance, another 250km race which starts at 2:45pm.

The Track

Adelaide is a circuit that requires 100 per cent commitment 100 per cent of the time. The concrete canyon always produces some brilliant racing, but also bites…. and bites hard.

Turn 8 is one of the most infamous corners in Australia. It’s a fast-sweeping right hander, where you hold your breath every time a car buzzes through and slides to the outside fence.

Chaz Mostert is the current lap record holder, breaking it in his first weekend with WAU in 2020.

Tyres

We are on the Dunlop Hard Tyre all weekend!

Pitstops

With a 250km race comes two compulsory fuel stops throughout. How much fuel you take, and when, will be the big question.

How to Watch

You won’t miss a minute across the four days.

Fox Sports will cover every session live, while Channel 7 have you sorted Saturday and Sunday.

Nick Percat

“It finally feels real, we are back in Adelaide and it’s amazing.

“It’s one of the best events we have, so it’s so good to be back home racing again, we’ve missed it.

“The cars look incredible, I think its fitting Holden are finishing up here in Adelaide, and I can’t wait to race with the lion and helmet one last time.

“On track, everyone is wanting to be the last winner of the year, and the last Holden winner ever, so I’m really keen to get out there for practice 1 and build up from there.

Chaz Mostert

“It’s awesome to be back at Adelaide, you can already feel the buzz around the entire city so well done to everyone involved in getting it back.

“It’s going to be a massive weekend for everyone, and probably an emotional one for a few people in our team and of course our fans, so we really want to send it off the right way – the cars look incredible.

“As for the racing, this track always puts everything to the limit. We were close at the Gold Coast but just need that little bit to stand on top of the podium, so practice on Thursday and Friday will be really important in starting our weekend.”
