It has been a rollercoaster start to a jam-packed weekend, with Chaz Mostert retiring after being turned around and Nick Percat securing a top 10 finish in Race 10, for Round 4 of the 2023 Supercars Championship.

As the fog cleared, Nick and Chaz took to the track for two practice sessions in the morning which saw them with some work to do, searching for more pace.

Qualifying was tough, with a three-part qualifying session, both cars missed Q3 with Chaz and Nick starting P11 and P13, for the 42-lap, 100km race.

Race 10 was a turbulent one, both the Mobil 1 Optus Racing No.25 and Mobil 1 NTI Racing No. 2 cars had strong starts making their way up to P8 and P11 in the first two laps.

Chaos arrived on lap three, when Chaz got turned by another car, resulting in steering damage which ultimately put him out of the race.

Nick ran a long first stint before taking two Dunlop SuperSoft tyres, with strong race pace and aggressive moves, Nick drove his way up to P9, securing a top 10 finish for Race 10.

We’ve got some homework to do tonight with eyes forward to tomorrow for the final two 100km races, with cars hitting the track at 9.50am(AEST) for back-to-back qualifying sessions of the Tasmania SuperSprint.

Nick Percat

“A solid result for the team today, we showed some good race pace and ended up with a top 10 finish.

“It’s pretty special to be celebrating my 300th race start tomorrow, let’s see what we can do.”

Chaz Mostert

“Not an ideal start to the weekend being taken out so early in the race, we had a great start but because of the damage we couldn’t continue.

“The team will be hard at work tonight to turn the car around for tomorrow, eyes forward.”
