Chaz Mostert jumps to P4 in the 2023 Drivers Championship after finishing 5th in the final race of the season.

It was a tense qualifying session with a poorly timed red flag whilst Chaz and Nick were on their flying banker laps 10 meters from the start/finish line. The boys had one shot to set their fastest time to secure a spot in the Top 10 Shootout, the pressure was on!

Chaz put together a strong lap to secure a ticket to the Top 10 shootout meanwhile Nick qualified 17th after trying a different set-up with the car which didn’t pay off.

As the lights went out, Chaz had a great start off the line which kept him in the opening pack for the first stint.

Nick had a clean opening first few laps, battling with the middle pack but sustained damage upon contact with another car which pretty much summed up his afternoon.

Unfortunately, Chaz made contact with Feeney on lap 6 which awarded him a 5 second penalty to serve at the first stop.

Put on the back foot, Chaz then had to pass some cars late in the race but fought hard all the way to the end, crossing the finish line in P5. It was a tough slog for Nick as he limped the car home from the early race contact, finishing up P21.

A strong finish from Chaz today means he jumps from 5th in the drivers Championship to 4th which rewards the team for their hard work this year!

A big thank you goes out to our amazing partners, members and fans for their support this year, we will be back bigger and better in 2024.

Lastly, a massive thank you to Nick for his entire journey with the WAU family, what better place to farewell him than at this track where Nick first debuted with the team in 2007, we wish Nick all the best next year.

Chaz Mostert

“We ended up P4 in the championship, we can’t be disheartened with that, it’s been a hard slog this year. We didn’t get a win this year which I am pretty disappointed about but we have plenty of trophies and podiums and we fought hard to the death.

“It’s been a great two years with Nick as a teammate, if you told us 10 years ago we would be great mates we would have laughed but I now have a lifelong friend and wish him all the best next year!

“Thank you to all the fans and our sponsors we honestly can’t do this racing without you guys so please bring that energy back for next year and we will come back stronger!”

Nick Percat

“A big thank you to everyone at WAU, all the partners, and of course the Walkinshaw family for my time here.

“it’s been great fun, and while we didn’t quite get the results we wanted, it’s been a pleasure.

“Good luck going forward, I look forward to banging doors with the guys next year on track.”
