It was a disappointing end to the first event at the The Bend, with race results not as we had hoped for heading into Sunday.

The team will be working overtime during the week before the second event here next weekend, which will take place on the ‘West’ circuit, a shorter variation that the one used this weekend.

After slotting into fourth off the line, Chaz was the first to stop on lap 5, undercutting the three cars ahead of him, before taking the race lead officially on lap 14. He couldn’t hang on however, as the car balance and tyre life late in the stint hurt him.

Bryce moved forward from his starting position, also stopping early, and then was locked in a battle with those who stopped late in the last handful of laps. He fought well, but couldn’t hold on to the back of the top-10 late.

The balance of the race car was still a factor for the No. 25. Chaz was within touch of the leaders early, but late in both stints the tyre life wasn’t there, and he was swallowed up by the cars around him.

In a chaotic opening few laps, Bryce had to take evasive action via the grass to avoid spinning cars which dropped him down the order, before receiving a marginal 15-second penalty for contact a few corners later.

He had to serve that at the stop, which put him out of touch from the cars around him, spending most of the remaining laps by himself.

The tyre life on the No. 2 was a lot better, but unfortunately, he couldn’t show the true potential of the car with the penalty.

Bryce Fullwood

“I didn’t do a go a good enough job in qualifying today, I made a couple of mistakes which compromised both starting positions, but the car was really quick.

“The tyre life in the car was quite good in the last race, which is promising heading into next weekend.

“I’ve learnt a lot this weekend, and I’ve probably proved to myself what I can do when I put everything together. Despite today, it’s been an awesome weekend, and I can’t wait to go racing again next weekend.”

“We’ve got a bit of homework to do during the week, we had great qualifying pace, but struggled with the race car.

“We will be keeping our heads down this week, to turn it around before next weekend, to try and turn that qualifying pace into results.

“We’ve got another chance in a few days’ time, to leave here on a high and head to The Mountain.”
