Scott Pye has capped off an ultra-consistent weekend at Winton with a sixth-place finish in race 14, while James Courtney had one of those afternoons, officially classified as 19th after a 15-second penalty.

Qualifying for today’s 200km, 67-lap race was similar to Saturday, with Pye recording the sixth fastest time, and JC the 13th.

JC stopped at the end of lap 1, hoping for clear air, but ran into trouble when he was pushed off the road on the out-lap by de Pasquale and Le Brocq in separate incidents, costing him a heap of time.

That put him on the back foot for the rest of the afternoon, as he sat in traffic fighting for position instead of putting in clean laps.

Scott picked up a spot on the start to be fifth in the first stint, before stopping on lap five.

The rest of his afternoon was relatively uneventful, as the top six all had space around them for the majority, with a few on different strategies.

The boys took their second stops on lap 29 and 30, fuelled to get home.

Scott dropped back to sixth once the dust had settled on all the stops, where he would go on to finish.

JC’s day took a turn for the worse when he was handed a 15-second penalty for contact with Tander in the closing stages.

Despite crossing the line in 14th, he was pushed back to 19th.

For Scott, his weekend has moved him to sixth in the championship, just 74-points behind third.

It also keeps us third in the Teams Championship, while JC is ninth in the Drivers Championship.

Now we have a three-weekend break until we head to Darwin.

It’ll be time to have a breather before attacking the next part of the year full of confidence.

“It was a great weekend for us. Today the car was really good again. We qualified up the front which makes life a lot easier and were able to grab another haul of points.

“To be so close to third in the championship shows the improvement this year. While we would have like to be a bit higher and back on the podium today, it’s been a really good weekend from the team.

“It’ll be nice to have a small break now, but the work won’t stop, I’m hungry for more.”

“It was just one of those days today where nothing went our way.

“Being pushed off twice ruined strategy and hurt us for the rest of the day.

“It’s been a tough weekend not being 100 per cent, but all things considered we got through it.

“I’ll rest and recoup over the break and get stuck back in at Darwin.”
