Hey Townsville, we’re here.

We’ve gone right up the east coast of Australia to make it, but we are excited for what the weekend holds.

Round 7 of the championship see’s two, 200km races around the Reid Park precinct in Townsville; one Saturday and one Sunday.

Two long races in the heat on a circuit that punishes mistakes will certainly be a test for both drivers, which excites them.

The circuit itself is one of the most unique on the calendar. Half is a dedicated street circuit, while the other half is through the parklands. That makes for one heck of a lap that requires full commitment.

Townsville has been a kind place for us, with the team achieving a podium in every year since its inception in 2009. That doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy though; there are no guarantees in this game.

The concrete walls are going to be as close as they have been since Clipsal back in March, and that’s a good thing.

It might not be as hot as Darwin, with the temperature gauge expected to be in the high 20’s all week, but the humidity makes for a sweaty weekend in the cockpit.

The focus this weekend is once again on improvement. We saw what Scott was able to do on Sunday in Darwin, driving in to the top 10, so it’s important to continue to build off that.

On track action kicks off at 12:10pm on Friday, before qualifying and racing across the weekend.

The top-10 shootout will also be back for the third time this year.

All running will be done on the supersoft tyre. That’s the one with the white sidewall writing.

“I’m excited to get back up to Townsville. It’s a great event, and one where we’ve had good success in the past.”

“The track is really fun to drive, being half a street circuit but half parklands, so that hybrid element makes it really interesting, and always keeps us on our toes.

“Everyone has been working crazy hours in the workshop to improve, so that’s the goal again this weekend, keeping chipping away at the car speed.

“It was a good result for us at the last event in Darwin, but we’ve got to build on that now.

“Car speed was good for us, but we’ve still got to work on our qualifying speed to make life easier.

“Everyone’s been working really-hard to do that, and I can’t thank them enough.

“Townsville is a great place to go racing. It’s going to be great to escape cold Melbourne and find some sun again!

“The track requires full commitment as a driver with the concrete walls surrounding you. Mistakes are very costly around there.”
