We’re headed north on the Hume Highway to Winton Motor Raceway for Round Five of the 2022 Supercars Championship, back racing at the regional Victoria circuit for the first time since 2019.

This weekend, we become a three-car team, with Jayden Ojeda joining Chaz and Nick for his first of two Wildcard entries in the No. 27.

Format

It’s a compact, two-day format where track time is limited.

Saturday morning sees two quick practice sessions, before a three-part knockout qualifying session, and then the lights get turned on for the first 46-lap race of the weekend!

It’s back to daytime running on Sunday, with Chaz and Nick rolling straight into back-to-back qualifying sessions that set the grid for the two 46-lap races on Sunday afternoon.

Tyres

The Dunlop SuperSoft returns this weekend, after last seeing it in Tasmania, with five sets available per car from the start of Saturday qualifying.

The Track

Winton is a tight and tricky track. It’s three kilometres long with 12 corners, meaning there is not much rest for the boys behind the wheel.

Pitstops

No fuel, just tyres, and two guns for four wheels.

Weather

No rain on the forecast, but cold mornings before (hopefully) the sun shines in the afternoon.

How to Watch

Every session, every lap, will be live on Fox Sports 506 and Kayo.

Nick Percat

“It’s awesome to get back to Winton, it always has an old-school racing feel to it, and it’s cool to see everyone camping over the back of the circuit.

“It always throws a lot of challenges at teams and drivers, and getting temp in the tyre for qualifying is really important, and can be tricky to be honest.

“Everyone at WAU has been working really hard since Perth to put that behind us, and are really excited to get to the track and get started.”

Chaz Mostert

“It’s great to be going back to Winton, we’ve been there a bit over the past few years testing but to go back and have a weekend racing there is great. The crowd there is always awesome, and it’s great to get out regionally as well.

“It’s really important to start the weekend well here in practice, we had a solid test day last week, we’ve been working hard to get back on the right track, so lets see how we go.”

Jayden Ojeda

“Really excited to get out there this weekend, it’s been fantastic working with the whole team here, so I just can’t wait for tomorrow morning to be honest.

“It will be an action-packed weekend, but we had a really productive test day last week, it’s a track I’ve done a lot of laps at in a Supercar, so hopefully we can settle in quickly and build confidence as the weekend progresses.”
